In Memoriam: Matushka Anna Labun
CHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Communications] — Matushka Anna Labun, 92, wife of the late Archpriest Jan Labun, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2016.
A devoted member of Christ the Savior Church, Chicago, Matushka Anna was born in Becherov, Czechoslovakia April 17, 1923, the daughter of Vasil and Anastasia Kokos. Together with her family, she emigrated to the US in 1969, after which her husband was assigned Pastor of Christ the Savior Church, Rockford, IL. She faithfully ministered alongside her husband until his untimely repose in 1980. Most recently, on September 20, 2015, His Grace, Bishop Paul of Chicago presented a diocesan gramota in recognition of Matushka Anna’s living witness and many years of ministry to the Holy Orthodox Church along her husband.
Matushka Anna is survived by three sons — Jan [Patricia], Vladimir [Carol], and Nicholas [Susan] — and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, at Christ the Savior Church. 927 North LaSalle, Chicago with the celebration of the Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, February 11, the Divine Liturgy and Panikhida will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Trinity Monastery Cemetery, Jordanville, NY.
