Myrrh-Streaming Icon of St. Anna to visit Detroit’s Holy Trinity Church November 19-20
DETROIT, MI [MW Diocese Communications] — The Miraculous Myrrh-Streaming Icon of Saint Anna, the Mother of the Virgin Mary, will visit Holy Trinity Church, 20500 Anglin St., Detroit, MI on Saturday and Sunday, November 19-20, 2016.

The icon is enshrined at Saint Tikhon’s Monastery, South Canaan, PA.
Archpriest Lev Kopistiansky, Rector of Holy Trinity Church, will celebrate a Prayer Service in honor of Saint Anna, followed by anointing of the faithful, on Saturday, November 19 at 1:00 p.m. Free-will offerings for Saint Tikhon’s Monastery will be accepted with gratitude.
After the service, the monastery’s Riasophore Monk Michael will conduct a retreat on prayer and fasting. The icon will be present during Great Vespers, which will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. It also will be present at the 10:00 a.m. Divine Liturgy on Sunday, November 20.

The icon, which was painted at the Mount of Olives Convent in Jerusalem, was commissioned by the late Archimandrite Athanasy [Mastalski] in 1998, blessed at the Sepulcher of our Lord, and enshrined in the Russian Orthodox Church of Our Lady, Joy of All Who Sorrow, in Philadelphia, PA. On Mother’s Day, May 9, 2004, the icon began to stream or weep myrrh. Accumulations of the liquid were seen on the cuff on Saint Anna’s left hand and on her left shoulder. Droplets also were found elsewhere on the icon. Recently, small, slow-moving streams of myrrh have appeared on other parts of the icon.
Enshrined at Saint Tikhon’s Monastery in the fall of 2012, the icon continues to produce miraculous help and healings.
