Detroit’s Council of Orthodox Christian Churches to sponsor Sunday Lenten Vesper services

DETROIT, MI [MW Diocese Communications/COCC] — The Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit [COCC] will hold the first in its annual series of Vesper services on the five Sundays of Orthodox Great Lent on March 5, 2017, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, at 6:00 p.m. at Saint Clement Ohridski Macedono-Bulgarian Orthodox Church, 19600 Ford Road, Dearborn, MI.

Members of the Saint John Chrysostom Clergy Brotherhood and clergy from the host parish will conduct the service.  The homilist will be Priest Gabriel Bilas of Saint Mary Magdalene Church [OCA], Fenton, MI.  The Orthodox Lenten Vespers Chorus, directed by Matushka Victoria Kopistiansky, will sing the responses.  Youngsters age 7 through high school from parish church schools are encouraged to bring icons of their choice and participate in the Procession of Icons.

The COCC is a 59-year-old clergy and lay association that represents various canonical Orthodox churches in metropolitan Detroit and sponsors a variety of worship, fellowship, charitable, educational and outreach programs.
