Chicagos Holy Trinity Cathedral welcomes Archbishop Leo of FinlandCHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Communications] — On July 28 and 29, 2018, His Grace, Bishop Paul, together with Priest Alexander Koranda and the faithful of Holy Trinity Cathedral here, had the honor of welcoming the Primate of the Autonomous Orthodox Church of Finland, His Eminence, Archbishop Leo of Helsinki, and Archpriest Rauno Pietarinen, who worshipped with the cathedral community at the Saturday evening Vigil and Sunday morning Divine Liturgy.

Chicagos Holy Trinity Cathedral welcomes Archbishop Leo of FinlandAt the conclusion of the Liturgy, Archbishop Leo expressed his joy at having spent the previous week at the 19th All-American Council of the Orthodox Church in America in Saint Louis.  He extended his gratitude to the cathedral parish for its hospitality.  After presenting icons to Bishop Paul and Father Alexander Koranda, he shared the historic importance of the numerous icons, dating back centuries, in Finland.  A drawing of Saint John Kochurov, the work of parishioner Arlene Tilghman, was presented to Archbishop Leo.  Father Rauno also shared his gratitude with those assembled for coffee Hour and recalled his fond memories of studying at Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Yonkers, NY, and the support he received during his time there.
