In Memoriam: Protodeacon Theodore P. Rose
BUCYRUS, KS [MW Diocese Communications] — Protodeacon Theodore P. Rose, who for many years was attached to Saint Mary Cathedral, Minneapolis, MN, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 after a long battle with atypical Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Michigan in 1942, he received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1967 and his Master’s degree from Purdue University in 1970. He married his wife Cynthia in 1969, lived in Minnesota from 1977 through 2016, and was a State Farm insurance agent during most of that time. He was ordained to the diaconate in 1997.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by their sons, Priest Zachary [Matushka Rachel] Rose, Rector of Saints Peter and Fevronia Church, Merriam, KS, and Kyle [Jessica]; their daughter Julia; six grandchildren; one sister; two brothers; and many loyal and caring friends.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 Black Bob Road, Olathe, KS. A Memorial will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Saints Peter and Fevronia Church, Merriam, KS at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 22. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, KS. A mercy meal will follow at the church.
