Saint Andrew Church began as a dream of the visionary Archpriest Vladimir Prislopsky, Rector of Cleveland’s Saint Michael Church.  Under his leadership, a 5.75 acre parcel of land was purchased in Maple Heights, OH, and on January 31, 1963, the parish of Saint Michael authorized the building of the church.  In January 1964 preliminary plans were drawn up, and finally after the formal groundbreaking on September 10, 1967, construction began.

The cornerstone was blessed on August 25, 1968 by his Eminence, Archbishop John of Chicago. Father Vladimir, together with Priest [later Archpriest] John Klembara, who had been named Rector one month earlier, assisted in the blessing with a number of visiting clergy.  The first Divine Liturgy was held in the new church on September 29, 1968.

Father Emilian has served the parish faithfully since early 2001, after Father John’s retirement in 2000.
