SS Peter and Paul Church Lorian OH continues 20 plus year Thanksgiving tradition“Founded in September 1977, Saint Herman’s has ministered to the poor and homeless population in Ohio City for decades,” said Priest Joseph McCartney, Saints Peter and Paul Rector.  “In the past year, over 73,000 hot meals were served at Saint Herman’s — one of the only shelters in Ohio, and in the nation, that serves three hot meals a day, seven days a week, every day of the year.  Additionally, the last five working days of every month, grocery bags are provided for women with dependent children.  As a matter of course, as many as 800 bags of groceries will be distributed to over 250 families.  As part of their hospitality outreach, Saint Herman’s makes available emergency food, bread, and pastries whenever needed.”

Father Joseph added that this year, Saints Peter and Paul parish delivered a record 165 turkeys, ten hams, a few hundred pounds of canned goods and clothing items to Saint Herman’s in thanksgiving to our Lord for His many blessings.
