Holy Assumption Church, Marblehead, OH celebrates first annual Blessing of Lake Erie
MARBLEHEAD, OH [Holy Assumption Church] — Saturday, January 12, 2019 was an awesome day for the community of Holy Assumption Church, Marblehead, OH, as Priest Andrew Bartek, rector, and parishioners hosted their first annual Blessing of Lake Erie. Despite the cold and windy day, about 50 people from Marblehead, Cleveland, Fremont, Toledo, Lorain, Port Clinton, and beyond gathered for the blessing.
Thanks to a generous donor, attendees were able to stand under cover during the blessing, after which about 30 people took advantage of the generous spread of hot food and drinks provided by the parishioners in the parish social hall.
The occasion provided an opportunity to share the Orthodox Faith and teachings with those unfamiliar with the Church. As Father Andrew said, “Today we bore witness to the Faith of Orthodoxy and Our God! Glory to Him!”
The blessing was featured in an article that appeared in the Port Clinton Herald.
