Chicago parishes to host lectures by Dr. David Ford March 30-31
CHICAGO, IL [MW Diocese Communications] — Dr. David C. Ford, Professor of Church History at Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, South Canaan, PA, will be presenting a three-part lecture series focusing on Saint John Chrysostom’s teachings. The series — “A Festival of Wisdom for the Christian Life, from the Writings of St. John Chrysostom” — will be held at Chicago’s Christ the Savior Church and Holy Trinity Cathedral March 30-31, 2019.
On Saturday, March 30, the program will open with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at Christ the Savior Church, 927 North LaSalle Boulevard, Chicago at 8:30 a.m. Dr. Ford’s first prsentation — “Highlights of Salvation History — from Creation to the Last Day” — will begin at 10:00 am. After lunch, Dr. Ford will speak on “Highlights of Our Life in the Church, Especially the Sacramental Life,” at 1:30 p.m.
On Sunday, March 31, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Holy Trinity Cathedral, 1121 North Leavitt Street, Chicago at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Ford’s third lecture — “Highlights of Daily Christian Living” — will follow at the cathedral at noon.
Dr. Ford earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Colgate University, Hamilton, NY; a Master of Divinity degree from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, OK; and a Ph.D. from Drew University, Madison, IN.
The lectures are free of charge and open to the public.
