CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – The Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America, meeting under the presidency of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, is holding the Regular Fall 2023 Session, this week at the historic Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, IL.
On Monday, November 6, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel greeted His Beatitude at the airport, welcoming the Metropolitan to the Diocese of the Midwest. On the following day, Tuesday, November 7, the Synod Meetings began with an opening Molebien and address from the Metropolitan. During the course of the meeting the Reverend Hieromonk Benedict (Churchill) was canonically elected as the Bishop of Hartford and the Diocese of New England.
Meetings are scheduled throughout the day with the hierarchs gathering for the All Night Vigil in the evening to welcome the feast of angels.
