“The Feast of the Chief Apostles is a Feast of Brotherhood”

ST. JAMES, MO [DOM Communications] – The Chief Apostles, St. Peter and St. Paul, were honored on their feast day, June 29, by communities throughout the Diocese of the Midwest. For the second year, several of the communities in southern Missouri met at Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Mission, which is centrally located along I-44.

Priest Joel Wilson, the head of the Annunciation Mission, was joined by Priest Basil Ferguson, the Rector of St. Thomas the Apostle in Springfield, MO and Priest Matthew McDonald, from Archangel Michael Orthodox Church in St. Louis, MO.

Fr. Basil offered the homily highlighting how the glory of the Apostles was achieved by following Christ upon their personal crosses, and that we all are called to salvation through our own personal crosses. Fr. Joel welcomed both Fr. Basil and Fr. Matthew at the end of the Liturgy, reflecting on how this feast is a feast of brotherhood between the Apostles Peter and Paul and sets an example of support for one another.
