Online Church School Offers Opportunity During Pandemic

SYOSSET, NY [OCA/DOM Communications] – The Orthodox Church in America continues its “Online Church School” ministry in an effort to assist parishes and youth engage in the teachings of the Church. In a season like no other, many churches are not able to offer traditional lessons on Sunday following services due to the local restrictions in place because of the ongoing global pandemic.

Online Church School is being held for Middle School and High School students weekly on Tuesdays, at 7:00 pm EST/4:00 pm PST. The interactive sessions will explore various topics of interest to Orthodox Christian students via video conference and will last approximately one hour. Middle School teacher, Ms. Catherine Golitizn, will lead the Middle School class, and Father Alexander Koranda of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Chicago, IL, along with Father Jonathan Lincoln of Saint Joseph Church in Wheaton, IL will team-teach the High School class.

For students to participate, no registration is required. To join the class, visit oca.org/ocs. Students should click on the link for their level no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the starting time and they will gain access to the online class.

OCA Online Church School is a resource provided by the Departments of Christian Education and Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministry.
