Nebraska Communities welcome the Archbishop of Chicago

LINCOLN, NE [DOM] – On June 13-14, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Diocese of the Midwest made an archpastoral visit to Nebraska to visit two communities of the Diocese.

On Saturday, the Archbishop visited St. Tikhon Chapel, Omaha, NE. The community gathered to meet their hierarch and to pray a Moleben of Thanksgiving. Afterwards they shared in a lenten potluck and enjoyed a disscussion with His Eminence. Later that evening, the Archbishop attended the All-Night Vigil at St. John of Kronstadt Church, Lincoln, NE for the Feast of All Saints of North America.

The following day, His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. John Church. Serving with the Archbishop were Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Chancellor of the Diocese; Archpriest Timothy Sawchak, Dean of the Kansas City Deanery; Archpriest James Dank, the founding priest of the parish; Hieromonk Alexii, Abbot of Holy Archangel Michael and All Angels Skete in Weatherby, MO; Priest Joseph Winsler, Rector; and Deacon John Eller.

During the Little Entrance, His Eminence awarded Fr. James the jeweled cross, and, following the Liturgy, a banquet was held in honor of Fr. James and Matushka Susan to celebrate their retirement. Several speeches were made as the community expressed their deep gratitude for all their labors throughout the years. His Eminence highlighted the fidelity of the couple as an example for all clergy and how the jeweled cross that was awarded signifies the cross the two of them have both carried during their many years of ministry. All present heartily wished the couple many blessed years.
