CHICAGO, IL [DOM Communications] – On August 14-15, Christ the Savior Orthodox Church in Chicago, Illinois welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Paul for the services of the Dormition of the Theotokos. The the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the feast was especially significant for the parish community, as His Eminence tonsured Nicholas M. Labun as a Reader.
Archbishop Paul was joined by Priest Jonathan Lincoln, Priest-in-charge, Protodeacon Thomas Keith, Cathedral Protodeacon, and Deacon Andrew Bender, who is attached to the parish.
The weekend’s services concluded on Sunday afternoon with Great Vespers for Christ the Savior’s temple feast, the Image of Our Lord Not-made-by-hands. “The coming together of the community around the diocesan hierarch in worship before the Lord was an encouragement to the whole community that whatever storms may rage around the Church, she is the Ark that bears the faithful to salvation,” reflected Fr. Jonathan on the recent visit.
