ANCHORAGE, AK – His Grace Bishop Daniel of Chicago and the Diocese of the Midwest arrived in Anchorage, Alaska to participate in the festal service for the great saint of America, Herman of Alaska.
After celebrating the feast of Holy Transfiguration, His Grace began his travels to the historic Diocese of Alaska for the annual St. Herman of Alaska pilgrimage seeking the heavenly intercession from the Holy Elder upon his new ministry as diocesan hierarch, and upon the faithful of the Midwest.
On Sunday, August 7, His Grace concelebrated with His Eminence Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco and the Diocese of the West, His Grace Bishop Alexei of Sitka and Alaska at St. Innocent Cathedral in Anchorage, AK. Serving with the hierarchs was Archpriest Daniel Charles, Cathedral Dean, Archpriest Michael Oleksa, Priest Alexander Koranda, and Priest Peter Kamilos.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Alexei greeted the visiting hierarchs and all of those who were gathering for the pilgrimage. Bishop Daniel greeted the faithful of the Alaskan cathedral and distributed icons of St. Tikhon of Moscow and St. John of Chicago asking those gathered to remember the diocese in their prayers.
A festive meal was held and the participants of the pilgrimage prepared to depart for Kodiak, AK.
