CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Sunday, December 24, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest celebrated the divine services for Nativity Eve at the Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, IL.
The Archbishop presided over the Divine Liturgy and was joined by Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, Protodeacon Thomas Keith, and Deacon Paul Garklavs. Offering a homily at the end of the liturgy the Archbishop encouraged the faithful to remain steadfast in their preparation for the coming of the Lord.
In the afternoon, Fr. Alexander celebrated the service of Great Vespers for Nativity and lead the procession of the festive icon to the center of the Cathedral.
That evening, Great Compline and Matins were held. The Archbishop presided over the service and was join by Fr. Alexander, Archpriest Tarasiy Maxim, and the newly ordained Priest John York, along with the Cathedral deacons. The Choir was directed by Olga Garklavs.
At the conclusion of Matins, the Archbishop greeted everyone with “Christ is Born” emphasizing the joy and honor it was to be celebrating the feast.
