McHENRY, IL [DOM] – The Diocese of the Midwest has announced a new date for the celebration of the birthday of its Diocesan Hierarch, Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest. The celebration will now take place on Thursday, December 19.
The observance of this day will be held at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, McHenry, IL, one of the newest parishes of the diocese. Mitered Archpriest Vladimir Kovalchuk, Rector of the parish, organized the event to honor the Archbishop. “We requested to host this event many months ago to honor our archpastor. He has taken great care of our community he received us into his diocese. We also wanted to host this event to welcome and host the other local parishes that have not had a chance to visit us and see our work here.”
The celebration will be held on Thursday, December 19, the patronal feast of the temple. The day will begin with the Divine Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. and then a banquet will be held in the parish hall after the services.
Services were postponed due to the repose of His Eminence Archbishop Peter (Loukianoff).
