CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Saturday, January 18, the feast of Saint Athanasius the Great, and Saint Cyril of Alexandria, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, IL.
Celebrating with His Eminence were Archpriest Herman Kincaid, Chancellor, Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, Archpriest George Gary, Priest Jacob VanSickle, Protodeacon Nicholas Denysenko, Deacon Paul Garklavs, and Deacon Niola Tambur. The choir was directed by Reader Philip Sokolov.
Before the liturgy, the Archbishop tonsured Seminarian Joseph Winsler as a Reader, and then ordained him to the Subdiaconate. After the Great Entrance, Protodeacon Nicholas was ordained to the priesthood and following the consecration of the Holy Gifts, Subdeacon Joseph was ordained to the diaconate.
The Archbishop congratulated the newly ordained after the liturgy offering his prayers and blessings. A meal was held at a local restaurant in celebration of the occasion.
