Archpastoral Visit to Minneapolis Reveals Fruits of the Northern Part of the Diocese

MINNEAPOLIS, MN [DOM] – A wonderful weekend at St Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral, Minneapolis, MN , was highlighted by the archpastoral visit from His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, November 12-13. At the Hierarchical services Dr Timothy Monko was tonsured as Reader, and the blessing to wear the orarion given to senior altar servers Malachi Thompson and Peter Mogielevski. During the Divine Liturgy,  the ordination to the Diaconate of Joshua Ford was held. At the conclusion of the liturgy, the bestowal of a diocesan gramota to the Danial, Julie, Samuel and Sophia Miller in recognition of their care for the Annunciation Chapel at the parish cemetery over the  years.

Following the Hierarchical Liturgy a splendid program was held at the parish centre, entitled ‘Honoring Our Spiritual Fathers’. The program began with a festive luncheon in celebration of all the milestones noted above and especially in recognition of our senior clergy, Archpriests Eugene Tarris, Myron Manzuk, Gregory Krutchek and Andrew Morbey, who together have over 200 years of pastoral ministry. In his remarks, His Eminence, our Archbishop Daniel, emphasized priestly pastoral ministry as a specific expression of the overall mutual love and service to which our common life in Christ calls us all.

While at the Cathedral, on Saturday His Eminence made time to discuss with their respective leadership the missions in Bemidji, MN and in the Dakotas, the work of FOCUS MN, and the Twin-Cities Orthodox Prison Ministry. After Great Vespers on Saturday, the Archbishop met with the Cathedral clergy and their spouses over dinner. A meeting was also held with clergy of the Minneapolis Deanery for a meet and greet session, which included a wide-ranging discussion of their concerns and interests.
