Bishop Paul Begins Great Lent at Diocesan Cathedral

CHICAGO, IL [DOM Communications] – On Forgiveness Sunday 2020, His Grace Bishop Paul celebrated divine services at the historic Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral. The day began with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. His Grace delivered the homily, teaching that Great Lent is a “needed disruption in our lives.” He encouraged the faithful to take advantage of this holy season and place their trust in nothing earthly, but only in God. Serving with Bishop Paul was Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, and Protodeacon Thomas Keith.

Following the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Paul installed the newly elected parish council and enrolled a new catechumen into the catechumenate. Those in attendance then gathered for a “Cheesefare” celebration in the parish hall.

That evening, the faithful of the Diocesan Cathedral gathered round their Hierarch  once again to welcome the season of Great Lent. Bishop Paul offered words of encouragement and instruction saying, “we should let the fast break us so that we may see our weaknesses and be made whole in Christ.” His Grace led the Rite of Forgiveness by asking all for their prayers and forgiveness.
