Celebration for the Great Martyr George held in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Saturday, May 6, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest lead the festal services for the Great Martyr George in Chicago. The celebration took place at St. George Cathedral, which joyfully celebrated their heavenly patron. St. George Cathedral is also the home to the chancery of the Midwest Diocese.

His Eminence was joined by Priest Nikolai Lochmatow, Mitered Archpriest Vladimir Kovalchuk, Mitered Archpriest Sergi Prisacaru (ROCOR), Archpriest Tarasiy Maxim, Priest Leonty Naidzions (ROCOR), Priest Alexander Koranda, Priest Artemy Makartetsky (ROCOR), Protodeacon Alexander Kichakov (ROCOR), Deacon Maxim (ROCOR), and Deacon Paul Garklavs. The choir sang under the direction of Rowan Morbey.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a cross procession was held.

The Archbishop congratulated Fr. Nikolai and the community of St. George on the occasion of their altar feast. His Eminence also thanked the clergy and faithful from the local area that attended increasing the joy of the feast.

A festive meal was held in the hall with a performance by the folk group Golosa. During the reception, Fr. Nikolai announced plans for an iconography project and other needed building repairs.
