Chancellor Inspects Ongoing Restoration at Diocesan Cathedral

CHICAGO, IL [DOM Communications] – On Sunday, August 15, the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, Archpriest Paul Jannakos, Chancellor of the Diocese of the Midwest, visited Holy Trinity Cathedral to inspect the ongoing restoration.

Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, guided Fr. Paul through the newly restored cathedral, and showed him the ongoing work of the historic rectory. At the conclusion of the tour, Fr. Paul venerated the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, the protectress of the diocese, which resides at the cathedral.

As reported earlier this year, Holy Trinity Cathedral is undertaking major restoration of the exterior of its buildings. Some of the main components of the work include the metal work that aligns the roof and windows, as well as repairing the cracks in the stucco and finishing the repairs with a fresh coat of paint.

The estimated completion of this work is at the end of this month, reported Fr. Alexander. The cathedral community is grateful for donors to this project, which can be done through their website.
