Christ is Born! Archbishop Celebrates Nativity of the Lord

CHICAGO, IL [DOM] – On Monday, December 25, the great feast of the Church, the Nativity of the Lord, was celebrated at the Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, IL. His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest lead the festal services at the Cathedral.

Priest Alexander Koranda, Cathedral Dean, Archpriest Tarasiy Maxim, Priest John York, Protodeacon Thomas Keith, and Deacon Paul Garklavs joined the joyful celebration at the Lord’s altar. The choir was directed by Olga Garklavs.

At the conclusion of the liturgy, the Archbishop reflected on the joy of the feast, while also bringing to the minds of the faithful of the suffering in the world. The Archbishop talked about this feast being a light for a world that has gone dark and the need for us to celebrate this feast and lift up in prayer for those who are not able due to the suffering in the world.

Following Prayers of Thanksgiving those gathered were invited to a festive meal in the Dean’s apartment.
