Cleveland Cathedral welcomes Archbishop

CLEVELAND, OH [DOM] – His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest made an archpastoral visit to St. Theodosius Cathedral, Cleveland, OH September 9-10. This visit was in coordination with the cathedral’s patronal feast on September 9.

The All Night Vigil was served by His Emeinence and Priest Jan Cizmar, Rector, on Saturday evening. Sunday morning the Archbishop was joined by Fr. Jan, Archpriest John Zdinak, Archpriest Steven Kostoff, Deacon Samuel Slimak and Deacon Sauer Johnothon. In addition to the faithful of the cathedral, numerous parishioners from Christ the Savior-Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, Cincinnati, OH,  were in attendance. Prior to the Divine Liturgy, John Guentz, from the Cincinnati parish, was tonsured a Reader and ordained a Subdeacon.

The Archbishop offered the homily speaking about the meaning of “many are called but few are chosen.” “We are all called to be God’s people and to attend the Divine services, but just answering the call is not enough. Once we go out the Church’s doors we have to preach Christ with our lives and try to become part of the chosen.”

Festive banquet followed the liturgy.
