Department of Education

Below we have provided an initial repository of various Orthodox Christian resources for Sunday Schools in our parishes. We plan to add resources either home grown from various parishes or made available through other Orthodox jurisdictions.

Our next step will be to add more adult resources and to list all of our Orthodox Christian youth camps and their contact information.

We are also in the beginning stages of discussing how to better connect and equip our youth in the diocese of the Midwest for the glory of our Lord’s kingdom.

If you have more resources, suggestions, and ideas please email us at education@domoca.org and we can discuss how to share these resources.

Dr. Pat’s Orthodox Super Sunday School Curriculum

https://orthodoxsundayschool.org/

The goal of this curriculum was to meet the needs of the mission or small parish for a unified curriculum, flexible to varying numbers of students of varying ages. The entire curriculum repeats every four years, each time with increasing depth.

Illumination Learning

Great Lenten resources here! Very focused on the practices of the Church and incorporating our children into the life of the Church via those practices. Also, there are Church School resources based in the Gospels and St. Paul that are modeled off of a “One Curriculum” model. The idea behind this model is to have everyone in our parish learn about the same topic in order to nurture understanding of our faith, to bring families together in conversation about each week’s lesson, and to promote greater understanding and participation in relation to each year’s overall topic of study.

Orthodox Pebbles

https://orthodoxpebbles.com/

Orthodox Pebbles sprung forth from our effort to effectively organize, coordinate and teach Sunday School at our local Greek Orthodox parish. As religious educators, we have been striving to familiarize our students with our Church, its theology, services, customs and traditions, within an environment of Christian fellowship and community…

Their material is geared toward younger children, ranging in age from Preschool to lower Elementary. Their content includes background information, Bible references, icon explanation, storytelling resources, worksheets, crafts, games and other fun activity ideas. Their resources can be used both in the Sunday School classroom and in the home, and are meant to complement, not replace, the official Orthodox Church curricula.
