Mission Parish Welcomes Two Holy Icons to Site of New Church

ST. JAMES, MO [DOM] – The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Mission had the honor of welcoming two holy icons of the Theotokos in the past couple of weeks. This was a source of great joy as the mission is looking to break ground for their new temple.

For the altar feast on March 25, the parish welcomed the Tikhvin Icon of Chicago which is enshrined at the Diocesan Cathedral, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Chicago, IL. His Eminence Archbishop Daniel presided over the feast serving with local clergy, Priest Joel Wilson, head of the mission, Archpriest Timothy Sawchek, Dean of the Kansas City Deanery, Archpriest Peter Bodnar, Priests Ryan David Carder, Priest Matthew Mcdonald, Priest Ephraim Tauck, and Deacon Michael Wilson.

Only a few days later on March 30, the miraculous Kursk Root came to visit the parish. The icon was processed to the site where the new church will be built. An Akathist was sung at that site.
