BENTON, IL [MW Diocese Communications] — Priest Justin Foster, 73, fell asleep in the Lord at his residence here on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.

Born in Norfolk, VA on September 4, 1942 to Albert Leo and Mary Esther [Babb] Foster, he proudly served his country in the US Air Force at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota as an Air Force Policeman in the 862 Combat Defense Squadron from 1963 to 1967, after which he attended Tidewater Community College to pursue a career in nursing.  He then joined the Military Sea Lift Command serving as a nurse.  He was ordained into the priesthood by His Eminence, the late Archbishop Dmitri of Dallas at the South at Christ the Savior Cathedral, Miami, FL in 2002.  He served parishes in the Diocese of the South and the Diocese of the Midwest, including Saint James Mission, Port St. Lucie, FL; Holy Apostles Church, Bloomington-Normal, IL and the Protection of the Holy Virgin Mary Church, Royalton, IL, from which he retired in 2015.

Father Justin is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, a sister, and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service for a Priest will be celebrated at the Protection of the Holy Virgin Mary Church, 111 North Fairdale Street, Royalton, IL at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17.  On Saturday, June 18, visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Archpriest Frederick Janecek, Rector.  Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, VA.
