HOLY SYNOD ELECTS BISHOP DANIEL AS BISHOP OF CHICAGO AND THE MIDWEST

BALTIMORE, MD [DOM] – The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America, chaired by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, elected His Grace Bishop Daniel of Santa Rosa, Locum Tenens of the Diocese of the Midwest, as the twelfth hierarch of the Diocese of Chicago and the Midwest.

The 61st Diocesan Assembly was held in the afternoon on Monday, July 18th, which was then followed by a Special Assembly chaired by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon for the nomination of a candidate to fill the vacant see of Chicago and the Midwest.

Just hours following the nomination by the Diocese of the Midwest, the Holy Synod held a Special Session an elected His Grace Bishop Daniel as the Bishop of Chicago and the Midwest.

The doors of the chapel were opened and the faithful gathered to join their prayers with Holy Synod and the newly elected Bishop of Chicago and the Midwest
